Popularly known as 'Deer in forest', this artwork is a handmade oil painting by Franz Marc who completed it in 1913. He is considered one of the most famous painters of his time who used bright colors to showcase his rich portrayal of animals, usually in natural settings. He used cube style to portray animals and gave an emotional meaning to the colors used. It is said that Franz's style of cubism was influenced by another great artist Robert Delaunay. During his lifetime, he was close to other notable artist including Vincent van Gogh and August Macke.
